A lot of after school clubs....

When Becky was at primary school the after school clubs were few and far between....There was football which she wasn't interested in and she did baking for a few weeks, knitting and a craft club but that was about it.....

They clubs only ever ran for a few weeks and she said they were quite boring. It seemed like the school wasn't really behind it but things have changed and now there is a club on nearly every evening.....
Ellie absolutely loves all the clubs! She wants to sign up for everything and I am letting her so far....

On a Monday she plays football for an hour and a half....She didn't really care for football before the club started but now she loves it. She usually plays in goal and I am told she is quite good....She comes in covered in mud and ravenous. Tea has to be nearly ready or she gets hangry. hehehe

Ellie has been in the school choir for a over a year now....They joined up with a local secondary school and put on a fantastic performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and were given tickets at a hugely discounted price to see Joe McElderry playing Joseph at the Metro Radio Arena next month....Tonight the choir has been invited to sing at an awards ceremony....It's going to be a late night for her as it's not expected to finish until about half past 8 but she is really looking forward to it.....

On Wednesday she has a night off and last week she put her name down to play rugby on a Thursday after school....

We had been looking at clubs away from school for her but everything seemed so expensive or too far away. We were speaking to one of the learning support people that is helping with Ellie's suspected autism and she mentioned somewhere near us that I hadn't thought of....On a Friday evening for an hour Ellie now does street dancing. It only costs a couple of pounds each week and she is getting to meet new people and is doing something different....

I was a bit worried last week that she was taking too much on after we had been to soft play on Wednesday and she was in such a grump and so tired on Thursday morning but after an early night she was up and out of bed before I had to even shout her on Friday....

Doing these clubs is boosting her confidence which she needs, she's meeting new people and it's keeping her active too. So for as long as she is enjoying the clubs and not too tired we will continue them....

Do your children do clubs after school?

  1. School Clubs well , the schools have to provide them to get good grades at their ofsted report , often its more unpaid overtime for teachers that doesnt cross the minds of the parents . Grandsons clubs are whatever they get allocated to each term , it is a very small school so they just allocate clubs , hes got gym this term which hes now foul about, as he does gym at the weekends and hes far in advance of the others and doesnt want to go , seems a bit daft when his place could go to someone whos a beginner

  2. Betsy does a gymnastics class once a week which she absolutely loves. It's run by our local council so it's a bit cheaper than most classes, which is nice.
