Galleoneers recipe box - Review!

We love a subscription box here and the girls love to cook so when I was offered a Galleoneers recipe box to try out we jumped at the chance...

Galleoneers is a recipe subscription box perfect for kids aged between 3 to 12 years old. The boxes give little chefs the chance to appreciate diverse cuisines from around the world. With 3 recipes in each box including starters or snacks, mains and desserts your cooks can learn a variety of kitchen techniques. As well as learning about the cuisine they also learn about geography and explore new cultures.

Our recipe box had a Japanese theme and Ellie was very excited about this....The recipes to make were Vegetable Maki and Nigiri Sushi (starters), Chicken Yakisoba (mains) and Red Bean Ice Lollies (dessert).....We had only ever heard of Sushi before so we were all learning something.

In the box we received the seaweed sheets and the sushi rolling mat, a wooden spatula and some origami sheets....

I bought everything else we needed....When your box is shipped the grocery shopping list is emailed to you so you know what you need....They tell you about substitutions you can use too. For example. 300 grams yakisoba noodles  can be substituted with straight-to-wok noodles, egg noodles, ramen noodles or whole wheat spaghetti which was handy to know.....

My girls love sushi but we have never made our own....Ellie was dying to give it a try and on Saturday we did!

The instructions in the booklet were easy enough for Ellie to understand and she took over and needed little instruction from me....Every recipe step is classified by age and cooking skills level which is great.

The first sushi roll was overfilled but by the fifth Ellie had well and truly got the hang of it....She had a fantastic time making the sushi and an even better time eating it....Even my fella tried it and he has always hated sushi. He is still not a fan but it's got him over his fear of it. lol

Last night Ellie made the Chicken Yakisoba with a little help from me....There will be another blog post about that. We have yet to try the Red Bean Ice Lollies. To be honest they don't really appeal to us but two out of three recipes is not bad.

The Galleoneers recipe box gave us chance to try things we would have never have thought of making....I think it is such a great idea and can't really fault it....Everything is straight forward and simple for children and there is no ridiculous ingredients needed.

You can subscribe to Galleoneers for 3 months for £27.75, 6 months for £54 or 12 months for £105...The recipe box is shipped on the 22nd of the month meaning it will arrive anytime between 2 to 5 days after and can be sent worldwide!

We were sent the Galleoneers recipe box free of charge in exchange for our review. This is it!

  1. Yoku yattane Ellie, they look fab! We are big fans of sushi and often make our own so we know it's not as easy as you make it look. The Galleoneers box sounds really good, I'll have to take a look for my little chefs :)

  3. Sounds a great idea. My son is a big sushi fan although I'm not too keen. And I tend to agree with you that bean ice lollies don't sound tempting

  4. Thank you for sharing these pictures. I love sushi but always thought it would be complicated to make. You make it look so easy that I think I'll give it a try :)
