The story of a missing parcel....

I order a lot from offline and quite a lot from Tesco Direct.....Over the last few months I seem to have had an issue with things being delivered to me. Basically them not delivering when they say they are going to.....

I have been laying the blame at Tesco's door when in fact over the weekend I realised it isn't them which is the problem it is the people who deliver their products.....

Out of the last 4 deliveries I have had 3 not arrive when or where they should have.....Going back a few months I ordered some play sand on next day delivery it didn't arrive the next day and my order seemed to be lost at a warehouse somewhere. Tesco kindly arranged for my item to be resent....The day after it should have arrived my sand arrived and I told Tesco this and then the next day more sand arrived which I told the driver to take away.....Grr!

I bought Becky a new tablet nearly a fortnight ago and again paid for next day delivery.....It didn't arrive when it should. It was delayed at a warehouse somewhere. I can sort of understand with it being over the Christmas and new year period but I still wasn't happy....

Ellie had some money from Christmas to spend and on Friday I ordered her the Playmobil hospital for her and a new computer mouse for me from Tesco. I paid for next day delivery and it was supposed to arrive Saturday. I got the text from the delivery company DPD to say will be delivered between 9.57am and 10.57am. I sat here waiting....Keeping an eye on the window and there was nothing.....

Just after 11am I checked online on the status of my order....I saw that it had been delivered and signed for at 10.06am.

Nothing had been delivered to my house so I got on the phone to Tesco....They confirmed it had been delivered and signed for....They put me on hold and rang DPD who said a man had signed for it and that was is.....The woman on the phone said all they could do was raise a dispute and someone would be in touch within 48 hours....I felt like she didn't believe me....You hear of people doing things like this. Ordering things, saying they haven't recieved it and getting the money refunded or another item sent out.....I think they thought I was doing that.....

I was furious.....I had spent nearly £80 and wanted my parcel. I got Stu to ring DPD. He is better on the phone than I am.....He can use an angry voice without sounding like he is shouting. hehehe He had words and they got the driver on the phone.....He said he might of misread the number and delivered it to the wrong house. Say I am at 33 he may have delivered it to 38. (I don't live at 33. It was just an example) They agreed to send the driver back and find the parcel in a few hours.....

It still wasn't enough for me.....I sent Stu off knocking at doors.....Thankfully the parcel was with one of my neighbours!! The man who signed for it says he just assumed we weren't in and took it in expecting us to come for it later.....I believe him. We take parcels in for his wife and she does for us now and again.....

The DPD driver rang us and apologised....He said he is new to the area and didn't check properly because he was in a rush....Sorry, that is not my problem. I am putting it purely down to laziness.....With him being careless he has wasted more time faffing around on the phone to Tesco and his bosses trying to find my parcel. I hope he learned his lesson and takes more care in future....

I rang Tesco back to let them know we had found the parcel and spoke to a lovely man who was apologetic and said he would pass the message on to the people dealing with the dispute claim. Later in the afternoon the person who I first spoke to rang and said the parcel had been located at my neighbours house....I said I know and explained what happened after I had spoken to her.....She hadn't got the message. Grr!

As I am writing this I am still very annoyed....I was made to feel like a fraud, spent at least a couple of hours trying to find a parcel which wasn't delivered to where it should have been.....It really puts me off buying from Tesco direct. I know it's not their fault at all but they need to have a word with DPD who delivers their products.....

  1. Was the DPD delivery man called Dave? I had an almost identical experience as you not too long ago and I live not far from you.

    3. It sounds like it...
Ahh! I was so stressed over it...The thought of losing nearly £80 worth of stuff almost had me in tears.

  2. I absolutely love my local DPD as they know my safe place & use it as more often than not I'm at work rather than home at delivery times, it seems yours aren't getting as much training as they should. Some of the other couriers can be a nightmare...one even put a parcel of clothes for a blog review on top of my dustbin...on bin day! Luckily I saw it as I got home and grabbed it before the binmen!

  3. That's rubbish! DPD is one of the only good ones round here. I haven't got a good word to say about the rest!

  4. Haven't had any issues with DPD, but my local Hermes guy is dreadful. Just dumps stuff outside when we're not in. I think part of of the problem is they don't pay the drivers enough. For Tesco and other chains, I usually opt to collect from local store

    1. Ahh! I love my Hermes guy. I've had the same one coming for a good few years.
I would collect but our nearest store is 2 buses away. A good couple of hours. Ugh x

  5. What a shambles. When we first moved into this house I had a few of my weekly shops go missing...they had been delivered to the wrong address but they couldn't tell me where. It angered me that they had got it wrong...but who in their right mind accepts a whole weeks worth of someone else's shopping...grrrr! and it happened 3 times with different stores. Thankfully I haven't had any problems since. Our postcode is now recognised on most Sat Navs.

    1. Oh gosh! That's shocking! Yes, who would accept shopping which isn't even theirs.
      I'm glad it's all sorted now :D x

  6. Delivery drivers are the bane of my life. The amount of baby equipment that I've had to chase up. It's ridiculous! Glad your things turned up.:)
