Worst Celeb Role Models For Kids!

A recent poll has found that Miley Cyrus (Disney’s Hannah Montana) has been voted by parents as the worst celebrity role model for kids. Really? I can think of a lot of people worse than her....

In a recent poll conducted by CouponCodes4u the Hannah Montana star received 64 percent of the votes and was the clear winner or loser depending on how you look at it!

Parents said they considered these celebs as bad role models because of their ‘inability to make positive life choices’, having ‘no actual talent’ and also as they portray an ‘over sexualised’ image for their kids.

The poll also found the worst male celeb role model for kids, singer, Chris Brown, topped the list for his ‘arrogance’, with new dad Kanye West close behind.

The top 5 female celeb role models voted for were...

Miley Cyrus
Lindsay Lohan
Kim Kardashian
Amanda Bynes
Farrah Abraham

The top 5 male celeb role models voted for were...

Chris Brown
Kanye West
Justin Bieber
Lil Wayne
Charlie Sheen

I can't really stand all the people named....The majority of them are arrogant & I would be ashamed if my girls grew up like any of them...

What do you think? Are they bad role models?

Where's my prize!!

I enter a lot of competitions and giveaways and I'm lucky enough to win some!!

I'm not going to name the people who've peed me off this week in case I get myself in trouble!! I should but I wont!!

I entered a competition way back in March to win a load of film related goodies from a fansite....I'm not a big fan of the certain series of films but my friend is and I entered so I could win the prize for her...I'm nice like that....lol So I entered....To design a logo, comment on the site, tweet about it etc....

I won the 3rd place prize which consisted of magazines, bookmarks, body spray, posters and some other stuff!! I was emailed on the 9th of April!!

If I win a prize I expect it within a month unless they tell me it will take longer!! I am quite an understanding person and with this prize I have been so understanding....Now I'm cheesed off with them!!

I've been promised this prize was coming since the beginning of May....The woman emailed me and said she's been working crazy hours....Fair enough!

Then I got an email saying the prize was posted at the beginning of June!! Hooray!!

Surprise, surprise it never turned up!!

After emailing it turns out there is me and 2 others waiting for their goodies too.....They ran another comp shortly after so I suspect there's another 3 waiting for prizes too!
Right.....Yes parcels go missing but 3 at least and maybe 6 of them to vanish is a bit suspicious!!

Royal mail sometimes mess up but on a scale like this I don't think so....On the 19th of June I got an email saying the website is closing down...Hmmmm....The prizes have been lost in the post and unfortunately even if they get back some money for the parcels going missing they won't be able to replace most of the items as they were one of a kind.....A bit convenient if you ask me!!

I've asked them to send me some proof something was sent to my address.....There is nothing!! She emailed me yesterday and said "I don't have a proof of posting All I have is a receipt from my local PO showing I mailed out a number of packages and the total postage cost. It could be for anything so no point sending it to you."....That would do!! But no she said all emails about this are being ignored now....

It's strange though....Last weekend the people running the website have started up a whole new website....It's amazing what you can find out on Twitter....lol

So in my mind....This is my opinion....They've ran a giveaway to get views or whatever on their website....Then had no intention of sending out the prizes....That is if the prizes ever existed!!

I'm not a greedy person but if I take the time to enter a competition and I win I expect the prize which is offered not some bull about it being lost in the post!!....

I'm angry and very annoyed!!

Reduce Food Waste....

Big over-sized food portions and fussy kids mean that the average family is binning a third of a ton of wasted food each year, a new study has found!

To help families cut their food waste, slim their bins and also try and save some money, here’s some easy ways that your family can try and cut food waste:

Check the cupboards: So many families will go out and buy fresh food without checking the fridge or freezer. Make time to write down absolutely everything you have in cupboards/freezers and stick it on the fridge – be creative and try and use these up before buying more!

Menu Plan: Once you know what food is in your cupboards write a weekly meal plan each week – with a list of the extras you need to buy.

Stick to your list: Don’t be tempted by offers or pester power and try to stick to your list! Also don’t shop when you’re hungry and if you have the luxury of shopping without the kids then do it!

Recycle leftovers: Instead of throwing everything away, use up extra meals or ingredients for packed lunches or tomorrow’s menu. Extra veg from a roast can go into a soup, extra rice can be fried for a stir fry or stale bread can be made into croutons for example.

Love your freezer: Foods that go off quickly like fruits or bread can be frozen so you can only take out a few slices to defrost when you need them. Cook big batches of meals too and take them out each morning ready for that night’s meal.

Use every last bit: The perfect way to use up last bits of wine or fruit juices is to pour into ice cube trays and freeze. You can then add a bit of lemon juice or a cube of red wine into a stock or sauce.

Use smaller portions: A bit of a no-brainer, but putting one less spoon on everyone’s plate will make a difference. You can either let everyone help themselves for seconds or recycle leftovers, but eventually if you’re cooking and eating less you’ll be buying less.

Keep a food waste diary: Keep a list on the fridge of what food you’ve thrown away and why. Eventually you’ll see patterns and can change your shopping habits. It will also make you think twice about throwing things away if you have to admit to it!

10 things I would tell 16 year old me!

Imagine if you could tell your 16 year old self ten things.....What would you say? What advice would you give yourself?

This is what I'd say....

1. Save don't spend!

2. Don't leave college just to move in with a boy....It won't last! Education is more important!

3. You're mum & dad know you smoke even if you do spray yourself with perfume and suck on extra strong mints!

4. Your parents are just trying to do their best for you.....Might not seem like it at the time but they are!

5. Do not wear stupid high heeled shoes that hurt your feet....You'll pay for it in years to come!

6. Get a driving license as soon as you can!

7. That girl who you're mum & dad disapprove of is a bad'un and will only get you in trouble!

8. Don't be so shy all the time you will miss out on a lot because of it!

9. Not everyone is doing it (parties, smoking, sex...)

10. Never say never- you ARE going to have children!

My girls make me laugh! #Funee

We were sat watching The Voice on Saturday and the girls were coming out with some corkers so I thought I would link up with Actually Mummy & her Wot So Funee? Blog hop and share.....

We were on about Tom Jones and explaining to the kids that he's been singing for years.....I said to Ellie that when I was 5 I can remember my mam listening to his music....Ellie said 'when was that...In the olden days' Thanks love! Way to make me feel old...

When Mike what ever his name is was singing at one point he had an awful shirt on....Becky said when I have a husband he will never wear anything like that or I'll divorce him then chop the shirt up...I feel sorry for whoever marries her....lol

Jessie J looks like an egg and Will I am just talks rubbish according to Ellie but is a good dancer!....

Becky said she could sing better then that Leah girl.....Her who just wails and sounds like a strangled cat....Her words not mine.....I quite liked her! lol

The verdict on the girl who won it Andrea was that her songs make both Becky and Ellie feel sad and Becky said she needs to dance more.....Ellie said she can't dance because she's blind....I explained blind people can still dance!! I told Ellie to shut her eyes and dance....So that was a cue for them both get up and dance for 10 minutes with their eyes closed.....

They're growing!!! #KidsGrowWild Challenge

This is a follow up to my previous post Out In The Garden.....Where we did a bit of gardening!!

Well it has been a huge success!!

We have growth!!

We planted them just under a month ago and as you can see they are growing brilliantly! The Pretty flower family are growing the quickest but over the last week or so the
Polly Pansy's have started to grow too!!

Ellie has taken the role of chief waterer and if the flowers/plant are looking dried out she asks for her watering can and gives them a drink!!

I'm very impressed with my girls....I expected them to be messing about with the soil when they have been playing outside but they have left them alone....I'm so proud of them.

This post is an entry for BritMums’ #KidsGrowWild Challenge.

The Challenge is sponsored by Moneysupermarket.com

Soreen Lunchbox Loaves - Review!

I was lucky enough to be sent some Soreen Lunchbox loaves to try by the kind people at MumPanel...

Lunchbox loaves are the new addition to the Soreen family, great for those families who are constantly on the go.

The loaves are lunchbox approved, and meet the Government's food based nutritional standards and packed full of squidgy goodness with each bar being less than 100 calories and less than 0.3g saturated fat. These little loaves are perfect as a healthy snack alternative for lunchboxes of all ages, or great to just snack and go, no need to slice.

Each pack contains 5 individually wrapped bite size treats and are available to buy in Tesco, ASDA and Sainsbury's.

I have tried the original Malt Loaf and was eager to give these tasty treats a try....

I managed to get one....lol They were delicious!! Ideal for a snack of as the name says to go in a lunchbox!

The girls wolfed them down and demanded that I buy more which I have.....They have been having them for breakfast with a banana....They are so quick to prepare.....Open the packet, slice them in half then we put some butter on....Easy!!

I was sent a five pack of the Soreen Lunchbox Loaves free of charge to try.....This is my honest review....All thoughts and opinions are my own!!

Walking to School....

Last week both my girls came home with a certificate saying well done for walking to school every Wednesday for the last term...The school was trying to encourage children to walk to school by putting the kids into a prize draw to win a bike if they walked....My two didn't win but we're not too bothered!

My girls walk to and home from school every day!! Once in a while we get a lift of my friend if she's not picking her eldest up from the high school....But the majority of the time we walk....

It only takes about 15 minutes! If I did drive it would probably take longer to get the kids into the car and the car out of the back yard then to walk the fifteen minutes....

We do the walk in all weathers.....I hate it during the winter but we still manage to have fun!

We always have a good chat about what the girls have done in school....what they've had for lunch and what they're planning to do when they get home...It's an important part of our day....

Did you know half of parents driving their children to UK primary schools live under a mile away, walk-to-school campaigners say. A recent survey found that one in four parents wouldn't even consider walking to school, even though most of those polled (4 of out five) had themselves walked to school as children. The numbers of children walking to school has been dropping off in recent years, says the charity and campaign group Living Streets, and could be seen as a contributing factor in the rising obesity rate amongst children.

Living Streets says that time pressures, distance and fears of dangerous roads and "stranger danger" are some of the reasons for the decline in children walking to school. The charity believes the government needs to address these fears and that walking to school should be a key element of government strategy to encourage people to be more active.

My girls make me laugh! #Funee

My girls are always making me laugh...So I thought I would link up with Actually Mummy & her Wot So Funee? Blog hop and share one of the corkers Ellie came out with last week!!
Late last week there was a half a Terry's chocolate left on the kitchen bench and when I was in the loo Ellie had came downstairs (she was supposed to be getting dressed for school) took it up to her room and ate most of it....Becky had walked in on her eating and came downstairs and told me....When Ellie came downstairs I asked her where it was and she said the fairies took it!!

The fairies get blamed for a lot of things in this house....Stu and I as parents are to blame....The dummy fairies came and took her dummies, the bed fairies took her cot away, santa has fairies which watch her to make sure she's been good & the tooth fairy comes and takes her teeth away......

So she said the fairies took it.....I said to her 'well you must be a fairy because I think you took it'....As quick as a flash she replied I'm not a fairy, I'm a princess!!

I had no answer....lol

I want school dinners....

At Becky & Ellie's school this week they are having a week of international activities including a week of international school meals....Which seem a lot like a lot of junk/take away food to me...It's what we usually choose to have for an easy tea on a Saturday night....lol

Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there!!

This one's for my dad!!

When I think about my father,
and the years we've had to share
I'm thankful just to know
that his love is always there.

Through the crazy days of youth
and now that I'm "mature"
the special bond between us
is still strong and will endure.

And though he's growing older
he grows sweeter with each year
my "knight in shining armor,"
I'm so glad to have you here!

Love you dad!!

Silent Sunday!

Concert Rants!!

Last night I was at the Bon Jovi concert with a group of friends at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland....We had an amazing time but so many things annoyed me!!!

We were stood at the side off the standing area so there was a steady stream of people coming and going past and that was fine.....

I've always been taught to say excuse me when trying to get past someone or at least "can I get past"....It's just manners!

What annoyed me was the guy who I'd seen arguing with his wife/girlfriend and he left her stood and  came barging past me and elbowed me right in the side....Grrr!! Or the guy who did actually say excuse me and then stopped right in front of me and enjoyed the show blocking my view....Every time he sung he lent back straight into me elbow...hehehe He lasted about 5 minutes until he moved!!

If you have paid to see a concert you watch it don't you? There was this one girl & her friend must of passed by us about 20 times in about 3 hours Bon Jovi was on!! Then was constantly chatting away not even facing the right direction!! Why?!! What's the point you could of stayed outside and not payed maybe over £70 for a good chat....

Another thing which got to me was we were paying £2.00 for a pint of lager and blackcurrent juice at our local pub before we got the bus.....The pub opposite the arena was charging £4.20 a pint then 60 pence for a dash of blackcurrent juice!! £4.80 in total!! I felt slightly ripped off!! I expected to pay more in the stadium but no it was only £4.50 in there....lol Crazy!!

Ohh there were some Hitler like security guards too.....We went to the toilet and came back the wrong way and ended up at the side of the stage at the front...Woo Hoo!! We were stood there a good 15 minutes doing no harm talking to the security people and they were fine until this one came along and said 'move now' and pushed us away! Wasn't very nice of him at all....

Put some clothes on girls!! Why wear just short denim shorts and a vest top and then complain you're cold!!

I won't even get started on the porta-loos! lol

Believe it or not I did have an amazing time....

Do You Have A Favourite Child?!

More then a third of mums secretly have a favourite child, according to a new survey by Parentdish.....

34% of mums and 28% of the parents polled admitted to favouring one child over another.....

I love both of my girls equally!

I love both of them all in different ways and for different reasons...

Ellie is so cute at times and makes me laugh all of the time and Becky is funny in her own way too, she's helpful and we have more in common....Becky is better behaved then Ellie and easier to deal with and I can have more fun playing games with Ellie but I don't favor one over the other....

They do sometimes ask who I love the most....My answer is I love you both the same but for different reasons!

Today is Bon Jovi Day!!

Today is not a normal Thursday for me.....

Today I go and see the AMAZING group Bon Jovi at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and get to see the sexy man himself! Mr Jon Bon Jovi.....He gets better looking the older he gets....lol Not bad for 51 years old!!

To say I'm excited is an understatement!!

I saw him in concert in 2011 in Edinburgh at Murrayfield Stadium & it was the first ever concert I had been to and I can say it was absolutely AMAZING!!

My friends and I are meeting for pre-concert drinks then making our way there......

A few of my friend have already been to see him in Manchester and Birmingham and I've seen the pics & videos....WOW The stage looks amazing!!

I am so looking forward to tonight....Not so much to tomorrow morning getting up with the kids for school...lol

Zoe's 5th Year Legacy! - Organ Donation

Both of my girls had open heart surgery in 2009 you can read about it HERE & HERE (it's in two parts) During and after the surgery I found quite a few Facebook groups about the Freeman hospital and support groups for people with heart problems or parents of children with heart problems....I met a wonderful woman Julie Chambers in one of these groups...She was mum to Zoe!..She is well known in the 'heart community' and is committed to raising awareness of organ donation!!

It is 5 years on the 12th july since Julie's daughter Zoe passed away and her story - this story has been an inspiration to many people around the country!!

In June 2007, Zoe was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, which is swelling and enlargement of the heart. Zoe's mother Julie kept a bedside vigil as Zoe spent several months of her life in three different hospitals. Throughout those months Zoe suffered six heart attacks and was eventually put on a Berlin Heart equipment that did the work of her heart.

As Julie and her husband Rob waited for a donor, their plight inspired the Daily Mirror to launch a campaign, using Zoe’s image, to encourage people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. A staggering 1.2 million signed up, and four days after the campaign began, a donor was found for Zoe.

Zoe had spent 100 days attached to the artificial Berlin Heart!! On June 28th 2007 Zoe underwent surgery at Newcastle Freeman Hospital that took around Ten and a half hours when they removed the Berlin Heart and replaced it with the transplant.

This was not the end of the road Zoe had a long battle to recover from the surgery. Zoe was on numerous different medications, taking many tablets each day just to stop the rejection of the new heart. She was fed through a gastric nasal tube and used a nebuliser twice a day to keep her free from infection. Despite the hospital saying she would have to stay in there for a period of around three months, Zoe amazed everyone by being discharged home after just a couple of weeks.

Zoe to her mothers delight took her first steps on Mother's Day in March 2008 and was soon bounding and running around. And after her medication was reduced she had her first taste of solid food.

Things were going so really well for Zoe she was shortly to take part in the British Transplant Games that would be staged in Sheffield, where she was entered to compete in an obstacle race and a ball throwing event as well as the twenty five metre dash. On June 29 2008 all the hospital trips and other worries were put aside for a party at the Milburn Leisure Centre to celebrated a year of good health. Almost 200 people turned out to celebration with Zoe and her family.

All the milestones Zoe had reached over the past course of the year were shattered on Saturday 12th July 2008 when, after falling ill at the family home, Zoe was rushed to hospital where she passed away.

After Zoe’s death, Julie joined Facebook to keep in touch with mums she’d met in hospital and now provides vital support to thousands of mums with sick children as well as raising awareness of organ donation.

Think about it!!

If your child was ill and needed an organ transplant to live would you take one? Are you registered on the Organ Donor register? If you answer yes to the first you should definitely answer yes to the second...

Please sign up and join the NHS Organ Donor Register!! In memory of Zoe!! It's very simply and only takes a few minutes...

Zoe's mum gave me permission to post this!

My girls make me laugh! #Funee

My girls are always making me laugh...So I thought I would link up with Actually Mummy & her Wot So Funee? Blog hop and share some of the corkers they've come out over the last few days!....

After Ellie had been on her school trip last week to the The Centre for Life museum she was so tired so had her tea early and was in bed for just after 5pm....Just before 7pm she got up and was convinced it was morning....She thought she'd had a full nights sleep and went to go back upstairs to get her school uniform....Took about 10 minutes of talking to her to convince her that it was still the same day!!

This week I'm going to see Bon Jovi!! Becky and Ellie are so excited!! They're excited about me NOT being here because they get to go to McDonalds for tea....They have said I need to go every week (I wish) & asked if I will end up on stage with them like I did last time....lol The last time they are on about was when I saw a Bon Jovi tribute act....A bit different from the real thing....hehehe

My friend was clearing out her garden and asked us if we wanted her kids old slide....I said yes! First thing Ellie said was 'Do you know you can do roly poly's down slides?' I'm seeing a trip to A&E soon...

According to my girls I'm the best mum ever because I've pinched sand from the beach and she is insisting on telling everyone this!! I didn't!! I bought four bags of it from Poundland and put it in the old paddling pool for them to play with!!

Ellie caught me writing this.....lol I left my laptop on the table and she saw it and asked what I was typing about on here....I just said nothing much and she said 'well why is my name there' It's great she can read but it might get me in trouble now....

Has to be Bon Jovi! #MondayMusic

I'm linking up with Family Four Fun & their Manic Monday Music!

As I'm off to see Bon Jovi on Thursday there is quite a few songs I could pick of theirs! It's took me ages to decide on just one....

I've chosen....Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars....

One of their hidden treasures and lesser known songs....I love it....It's so catchy!

Weekly Meal Plan!! - #mealplanningmonday

Monday again!! I'm only really planning for five days this week....Thursday I'm going to see Bon Jovi in concert and I imagine on Friday I will be in no fit state to think about cooking.....Nothing to do with the alcohol I will be drinking.....hehehe....Last time I saw them in concert I was tired, aching from dancing and jumping about and had nearly lost my voice....So I'm planning Friday as a day of rest...lol

So on the menu this week we have ....

Monday - Tuna Salad........
Tuesday - Meatballs and spaghetti....
Wednesday - BBQ Chicken and rice....
Thursday - McDonalds for the kids....Alcohol for me and probably a greasy burger that will cost about £8....lol
Friday - Fish & chips from the chip shop....This is my day of rest...lol
Saturday - Pork & apple sausages and potato wedges.....
Sunday - Giant yorkshire puddings filled with chicken, roast potatoes, veg & stuffing....

Britians Got Talent Final Tonight....

So after the week of the semi-finals it's the final tonight!! Yay!!

There's a wildcard to pick and I think there's going be an awful lot of upset children to try and control on the results show....

Gangnam Style' star Psy has been added the lineup for the Britain's Got Talent final he will perform his new track 'Gentleman' and he joins Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran duetting on their track 'Everything Has Changed'

I think the winners have to be Attraction!!

Everyone in that final is brilliant in their own way but no act has made the impact that Attraction has.....They even made my fella Stu cry and it takes a lot to make him cry!!

I've read people don't want Attraction to win because they are not British....So what!! Where in the rules does it say you have to be British?

So who do you want to win?

Online Shopping has arrived at Iceland!!

Did you know? If you did why didn't you tell me....lol

My friend told me yesterday and I have already placed my first order to come later this afternoon!!

As far as I know it's not available everywhere yet.....The trial is currently taking place at a small number of selected Iceland stores in the North West, North East, London and the South West!!

There is a minimum order of £25 like most online supermarkets but what I like a lot about it is there is free delivery!! That's at least £4 saved!!

When I heard about it I had already placed an order with Tesco to be delivered today....Luckily I could amend it!!

Originally my Tesco shop came to £145....

I went on the Iceland website and ordered £41 of stuff a lot replacing what I was getting from Tesco....Like the bread £1.45 in Tesco £1 in Iceland! The chicken, frozen veg & Pizza's were all cheaper in Iceland then Tesco...

I managed to delete a lot of things from the Tesco order and got it down to £92 for things I couldn't get from Iceland....So already I'd saved money plus I got a lot of extra things from Iceland for my money which I wasn't planning on getting like the Jaffa cake Ice Creams!! hehehe!!

I think they will take so much business from the likes of Tesco & Asda!! I think with the free delivery it's worth just doing a shop there for the bread products and frozen food!!

UPDATE!!

It came without any problems!! Yay! They text me and let me know it was coming and that there was one product unavailable no substitution offered though...I don't think they do them but it was delivered in the time slot! I'm impressed!
